Sectional garage doors are similar to up & over except that they are in 4 sections, which enables vertical opening. This type has been popular in Europe and the USA for many years and is available in single and double skin steel. The insulated panels can be up to 45mm thick and can be painted in a vast selection of colours. Glazing options add a further design feature to this robust door. Hormann, Teckentrup and Novoferm are leading manufacturers with the latter making a side slide around version of this door. The sectional door requires approximately 100mm of sideroom and from 115mm headroom. They can be installed behind the reveal for maximum drive through width, however if garage depth is restricted a between fit is possible. Consideration will need to be given to lintel height if this installation option is required and furthermore the drive through width will be reduced by approximately 100mm each side. The side and head frames have a rubber seal incorporated for draught proofing and the bottom section of the door has a rubber u-section seal which seals to the floor on closing. This type of door is ideal for large double size garages as they are available up to 5.5m wide.
